Aiming high? Communicate well

Aiming high? Communicate well

By Jean Ricot Dormeus

Communication skills clear the way to great achievements. Basic communication sustains our survival, defines our connection with our environment and drives our understanding and vision. The more we master our communication skills, the clearer we speak our minds to reach the hearts and minds of our interlocutors. Personal development and social transformation thrive on good communication skills.

Our communication style identifies our native community, our culture and even our occupation, through the language we speak, the words and tone we use and the emotions we arouse. Once, I took my daughter to the pediatrician. After I presented her issues, the pediatrician asked me if I was a doctor. I said no, why? He replied, “because of the way you speak”. Our communication style determines the perception we project to others.

You speak the language and understand the culture of a group to be accepted and integrated.

You contribute to the peace of society, the harmony and well-being of your family, workplace and network of friends using good communication. Nations reach the top of their development process because their leaders usually communicate based on key principles, including respect, optimism and fairness. Likewise, communities loose in their communication style have trouble to move forward.

Aware that effective communication starts with the mind and the heart, successful people and communities take care of their thoughts and emotions. Their non verbal communication becomes a powerful tool for persuasion.

Invest in sharpening your communication skills, it is one of the best placements you will ever make. The lofty goals you are pursuing, you will attain them as you communicate well with everyone, including hostile people. Aiming high? Communicate well.
